In March 2018, Studio Hamburg MCI GmbH began renovating the broadcasting and production complex at the NDR Kultur radio program in Rothenbaumchaussee. NDR Kultur broadcasts nationwide in all northern German states.
MCI was awarded the contract to refit two broadcast control rooms, one broadcast studio and three production control rooms, each with an attached production studio. MCI was responsible for the planning, installation and commissioning of this project.
The two broadcast control rooms and the three production control rooms were equipped with the latest DHD Series 52/MX consoles. In combination with the 10″ IPS touchscreens, presets, KDO intercom assignments and also settings for the room lighting can be selected easily and intuitively. The editorial and broadcast workstations were equipped with DHD-52/TX multitouch mixing consoles. Both these and the control consoles were connected to the DHD 52/XD2 shaft crossbar. The built-in workstations can be individually connected via a KVM matrix from the manufacturer Ihse with 48 ports per studio.
Both the control rooms and the editorial areas were equipped with a large number of video monitors, which can be fed via a small video router from the manufacturer Blackmagic with, among other things, visualization software specially developed by NDR to display the broadcast status (e.g. OnAir, traffic broadcast), websites or current click figures.
The project was accompanied by three project engineers from MCI. Acceptance took place at the end of 2019.
