Al Jazeera Media Network – LED-Display technology at Al Jazeera Arabic Studio 5

In January 2015 MCI was commissioned by Al Jazeera to realise the set construction for the new Al Jazeera Arabic Studio 5 in Doha (Qatar). Prior to the studio construction, Al Jazeera had enlarged its existing studio complex with an extension, so that the new Studio 5 was integrated into both buildings via a breakthrough.

After completion, two sets in which mainly live broadcasts are transmitted were provided with 2.20 m high display walls. This was implemented with a total of 48 60" seamless video cubes from Eyevis, which were installed in close cooperation with MCI. The video wall in Set 1, from which the main news is also transmitted, is 12.10 m long. It consists of 27 Eyevis cubes (60"). In addition, two 60" LCD displays from Sharp are installed at the back and two at the front of Set 1. In set 2, the 9.4 m wide display wall was also equipped with a touch system from Lang AG. The display wall consists of a total of 21 Eyevis cubes (60").

In addition, a newsroom (Set 3) was also equipped with grouped displays. On the left side of the set a total of four 46" LCD displays from the manufacturer Eyevis were installed. The right side of the set was equipped with three 55" LCD displays, also from Eyevis. Soffit displays were installed around the newsroom. 22 80" LCD displays from NEC were used. In addition, an admin PC was installed in the rack with KVM. For the project, MCI employed a project engineer and 3 fitters. In December 2015, the LED display technology was successfully handed over.
