Corporate studio with virtual environment for EOS Holding
MCI implemented the technical equipment for the event space of EOS Holding GmbH. The aim of the project was to install a corporate TV studio with a mobile control room in order to professionally record or stream both town hall events as well as interviews and panel discussions.
Corporate TV studio & event space
The compact corporate TV studio on the ground floor is ideal for interviews and panel discussions. It is equipped with room-filling truss arches to allow both a greenscreen or other curtains to be hung and to position sufficient soft lighting.
Image capture is provided by three studio cameras from Blackmagic Design, fitted with Sigma Art lenses with adjustable focal lengths. For simple signal transmission to the control room, the camera video signals are converted into easily distributable NDI signals.
Presenters in the studio use professional headset and lavalier microphones from the Shure SLX-D+ series, ensuring high speech intelligibility and easy handling.
Lights, cameras and microphones can also be set up on the event space for town hall events in order to distribute messages from the management to the entire EOS workforce from there.
Additional PA loudspeakers are installed in the event space to ensure optimal speech intelligibility for a live audience and to make remote speakers audible to everyone.
Mobile control room
All signals from the studio or the event space are routed to the mobile control room. The basis of the mobile control room is a Thon workstation case which, thanks to professional modifications by Studio Hamburg Designworks, offers space for 14 standard rack units as well as two built-in reference monitors.
A TriCaster Mini 4K is integrated for central video processing. It not only enables switching between cameras and various media and presentation slides, but also production in a virtual studio. The TriCaster is operated via an intuitive StreamDeck control surface, which significantly simplifies operation for the staff.
Central audio processing for microphones, streaming and recording levels as well as sound reinforcement for the audience is handled by a Yamaha TF Rack mixer. Thanks to fader banks adapted for EOS, it is also easy to operate and ensures high audio quality.
Everything is interconnected via a network of Ubiquiti switches and a gateway. These devices ensure seamless transmission of video data via the NDI protocol and audio signals via the Dante protocol.
Virtual studio
The greenscreen in the corporate TV studio not only serves to project the presenters onto any desired background, but can also be used for productions in a virtual studio. In the TriCaster, each real camera is assigned its own greenscreen background matching the respective camera position. The operator can switch between cameras as usual, with the difference that the cameras now capture the presenters in a virtual, three-dimensional-looking space.
The virtual studio used, provided by Majworks GmbH, takes the presenters from a small greenscreen studio and places them in a spacious corporate TV studio with a wall-filling screen and modern elements made of wood and concrete, complemented by subtle colours.
By implementing a flexibly usable corporate TV studio, MCI has equipped the event spaces of EOS Holding GmbH in Hamburg for the future. Interviews and panel discussions in real and virtual environments as well as town hall events can now be recorded efficiently and broadcast to all employees.
